Get a Business Number
What a business number is and how to get one — 1300, 1800 and Phoneword options from $10 a month, one signup step to connect, and what to compare first.
A business number is the inbound number you publish for customers — distinct from the phone service you answer it on. Getting one from 1300 Easy Dial means choosing between 1300 numbers, 1800 numbers and Phonewords, picking a monthly plan (published plans start at $10 per month), and nominating the answering point the service will connect your calls to at signup. That is the whole shape of the decision.
What counts as a business number here
Three published categories, each with a different caller-cost story:
| Type | What callers experience | Published plans |
|---|---|---|
| 1300 number | Shared-cost business number | From $10 per month |
| 1800 number | Free to call in the stated Australian 1800-number context; the business pays the call charges | From $10 per month |
| Phoneword | A 13, 1300 or 1800 number that spells a word on the keypad | From $40 per month |
Full plan tiers run at $10, $15, $39, $79 and $99 per month for 1300 and 1800, each with its own call-rate table on the pricing page. Prices are in Australian dollars and include GST, and a Phoneword's own price moves with how available and desirable the word is.
What getting one involves
Four short steps: choose the type by caller cost; if the number should spell a word, search it at Find a Number to see what is listed (availability is not guaranteed for a specific word); compare plans by their call-rate tables, not just the monthly fee; and nominate your answering point in the signup flow — the existing number your calls will connect to. The step-by-step detail is in getting a business phone number.
What a business number is not
It is not a mobile number: no mobile-number or SMS service appears in the published product range. It is not a phone line: line rental stays with your existing carrier, and the signup flow simply asks where calls should land. And it is not a personal number: the published products are aimed at businesses publishing a contact point. Where a query crosses those lines, this site says so rather than stretching a product to fit.
Business number questions
How much does a business number cost?
Published 1300 and 1800 plans run from $10 to $99 per month, each with its own call-rate table on the pricing page. Phoneword pricing starts from $40 per month, with availability and desirability affecting each word's price. Prices include GST.
Do I need to change my phones to get one?
No hardware purchase is published. The signup flow asks for the number the service will connect to, so your existing answering point carries the calls.
Can I choose the digits or word?
For Phonewords, yes within what is listed — search by word or digits and filter by prefix at Find a Number. Availability is not guaranteed, and desirable words are priced higher.
Where do the terms live?
In the current terms and conditions, which govern the service — read them before purchasing.
