Custom Local Phone Number Marketing
Using a custom business number in marketing: the word it spells, where it is published, and the add-on built for campaign tracking. No uplift is promised.
As a marketing asset, a custom business number does one published thing: it puts a word where the digits would be. A Phoneword — a 13, 1300 or 1800 number spelling a word on the telephone keypad — means the contact detail itself can read as your business name or service, on a sign, a vehicle or a website, without the reader translating numbers. That is what the published record supports. What it does not support is a promise: this page guarantees no uplift in recall, calls, enquiries or sales, because no such figure exists in the record.
What the published record supports
- The word itself: the keypad mapping is fixed — 2 ABC, 3 DEF, 4 GHI, 5 JKL, 6 MNO, 7 PQRS, 8 TUV, 9 WXYZ — so a word up to six letters long (four on a 13 base) can be read straight off the number. The published example on this site: 1300 327 934 spells 1300 EASY DIAL.
- Consistent publication: one national inbound number, with no area code, can go on every asset unchanged — signage, vehicles, print and web — so the published contact point stays the same wherever a customer meets it. That is a description of how the number works, not a prediction of what it will earn.
- Call Tracking Numbers, $5 per month: a listed add-on whose published purpose is seeing which ads and campaigns drive your calls — the published marketing feature in the record.
- Availability you can check: the word has to be available before it can market anything. Find a Number searches available 1300/1800 Phonewords by word or last six digits.
What this page does not promise
Three boundaries, stated plainly. No recall or brand-recognition uplift: a word on a keypad is a format, and whether customers remember it is not something the published record measures. No call-volume or conversion claims: nothing on this site promises that a custom number produces more calls or sales than any alternative. And no local-market claim from the number itself: geographic area codes are not published products here, so a "local" identity comes from the word — a suburb, trade or business name — not from the prefix. The custom local phone number pillar sets out the same boundaries.
The honest way to evaluate the marketing value is your own: put the candidate word in front of the placements you actually use, and let your own tracking — including the published Call Tracking add-on if you choose it — produce the numbers.

Marketing questions
Will a custom number get me more calls?
This page does not promise that. No published record on this site establishes a call, sales or recall uplift for any number format.
Which add-on is built for marketing?
Call Tracking Numbers, at $5 per month, with the published purpose of showing which ads and campaigns drive your calls. The IVR Keypress Menu and Postcode Prompter are listed add-ons with routing purposes, not marketing-measurement purposes.
Can the word be my suburb or trading name?
Yes, where it fits the keypad mapping and letter limits and is listed as available. The local identity comes from the word, because geographic area codes are not published products on this site.
What does the word cost as a marketing asset?
Word pricing starts from $40 per month, with the availability and desirability of the word affecting the exact figure, on top of a base plan from $10 per month ex GST. The pricing page holds the current figures.
