Smart Number Cost in Australia
What a smart number costs in Australia — the word from $40 per month, the plan from $10, a $50 setup and optional add-ons. All pricing is ex GST.
A smart number's cost has four published parts: the word itself, from $40 per month; the plan beneath it, from $10 per month; a $50 setup; and any add-ons you choose. There is no flat price list for the word — availability and desirability affect the price of each one, and the exact number and price are confirmed with you before connection. This page sets out each part as published. All pricing is ex GST.
- The word: from $40 per month, moving with the desirability and availability of the specific word.
- The plan: published 1300 and 1800 tiers run $10, $15, $39, $79 and $99 per month, with inclusions and call rates tabled on the pricing page.
- The setup: a one-off $50 on premium numbers, subject to number selection and availability.
- The contract: premium numbers run on a 12-month rolling contract. Standard plans on their own are month-to-month with no lock-in.
- Add-ons: Call Tracking Numbers $5 per month, IVR Keypress Menu $35 per month, Postcode Prompter $250 per month — all optional.
Part one — the word
The word is the premium component. It starts from $40 per month, and where it lands above that depends on desirability — a short, on-brand word costs more than a plain pattern — and on current availability, which changes as words are taken. Because both factors move, no page can honestly quote a figure for a specific word; the published path is to search the word and have the exact number and price confirmed before you connect.
Part two — the plan beneath it
The word rides on a standard inbound number plan. The published tiers across 1300 and 1800 are $10, $15, $39, $79 and $99 per month, each with its own fixed-line and mobile call rates and stated inclusions — for example, the Cap39 tier includes 250 fixed-line plus 100 mobile minutes. Those tables belong to the pricing page, and they are the source to read rather than any summary here.
Part three — setup and contract
Premium numbers carry a one-off $50 setup, subject to number selection and availability. They also run on a 12-month rolling contract, which is a real cost consideration: the word commitment is not month-to-month the way standard plans are. Both facts come from the owner-resolved terms published on the pricing page.
Part four — optional add-ons
Three add-ons are listed at published prices: Call Tracking Numbers at $5 per month, an IVR Keypress Menu at $35 per month and a Postcode Prompter at $250 per month. They can be added during signup or changed later from the online console. None is required for the number to work.
Putting the total together
The pricing page itself presents bundles as published examples — a Phoneword paired with Cap39 at $79 per month all-in, and a $50 per month pairing of a word with the Prepaid plan — plus the $50 setup. Beyond those published examples, this page does not calculate totals, because the word price is only confirmed at search. Read the tables, search the word, and confirm the figure before deciding.

Smart number cost questions
How much does a smart number cost per month?
Two published parts: the word from $40 per month, moving with desirability and availability, and the plan beneath it from $10 per month. The exact word figure is confirmed before connection.
Why is there no fixed price list?
Because each word is priced on its own desirability and current availability, both of which change. The published pages give the starting point and the rule, not a per-word table.
What is the setup charge?
A one-off $50, applying to premium numbers, subject to number selection and availability. The exact number and price are confirmed with you before connecting.
Am I locked in?
Premium numbers run on a 12-month rolling contract. Standard 1300 and 1800 plans on their own are month-to-month with no lock-in.
Do prices include GST?
