What activating a number involves

Activating a business number here follows a choose-plan-connect flow, with no timeframe promised on this page. You choose an available number, select a published plan, and connect the service to the number your business answers. The number can be a 1300 number, an 1800 number or a Phoneword.

  • Choose the number: search available 1300 and 1800 Phonewords with Find a Number, or select a standard number. Availability is not promised for any specific word.
  • Choose the plan: published 1300 and 1800 plans are $10, $15, $39, $79 and $99 per month, month-to-month with no lock-in. Phonewords run on a 12-month rolling contract with a $50 setup, subject to number selection and availability.
  • Connect the service: the signup flow asks for the number the service will connect to — the answer point your calls go to.
  • All pricing is ex GST.

What each step decides

The number decides what your customers dial and, in the Phoneword case, what they remember. The plan decides what the calls cost to receive: per-minute rates and included minutes differ across the published tiers, and the current tables are on the pricing page. The answer point decides where calls land — the signup flow asks for the number the service will connect to, and setup beyond that is not described on this page.

Because the flow runs in that order, it is worth settling the plan before sign-up rather than after. A 1300 number shares the call cost with the caller, who pays a local call rate, while an 1800 number is free for customers to call in the stated Australian 1800-number context, with the business paying the call charges.

What this page does not establish

No activation timeframe is given here, and none should be assumed from it. This page also does not cover porting an existing number from another provider; if that is your situation, ask the team through the contact page before deciding. The terms and conditions govern the arrangement once you connect.

If you are comparing numbers before activating one, 1300 number rates explains how the plan tables read, and a business phone number covers what one dedicated number changes for a business.
