New Business Phone Number FAQ
Answers about new business phone numbers: costs from published plans, what sign-up asks for and the questions this site does not publish answers for.
These answers cover the questions people ask before getting a new business phone number, drawn from the published plans and pages of 1300 Easy Dial. Where nothing is published — activation timing, porting, free numbers — the answer says so plainly instead of filling the gap.
The short version: plans start at $10 per month ex GST on a month-to-month basis, sign-up asks for the number the service will connect to, and several common questions have no published answer on this site.
What the published record does establish:
- Products: a 1300 number (shared cost), an 1800 number (free for callers in the stated Australian context) or a Phoneword (a number that spells a word, from $40 per month).
- Plans: $10 to $99 per month, ex GST, with included minutes or call credit published per tier.
- Search: Find a Number checks available Phonewords without promising a particular word or price.
- Sign-up: the flow asks for the number the service will connect to — the phone that will receive the calls.
The questions
How much does a new business phone number cost?
Published 1300 and 1800 plans are $10, $15, $39, $79 and $99 per month, ex GST, month-to-month with no lock-in. Phonewords start from $40 per month with availability and desirability affecting the price; their terms differ from the standard plans. Call rates and included minutes are on the pricing page.
How long does activation take?
No activation timeframe is published on this site, so none can be quoted here. Older marketing copy quoted days, but that claim is not part of the current published record. Confirm timing with the team on 1300 327 934 before you commit to a launch date.
Can I keep my existing number and port it across?
This site does not publish porting details for new customers, so no porting process, eligibility or timing can be stated here. Ask the team directly and get confirmation in writing before cancelling anything with a current supplier.
Is there a free business number?
No free number product is published. The lowest published plans are $10 per month, ex GST. Any number advertised as free should be checked against its monthly fee, call rates and contract terms on the supplier's current pricing page.
Do the plans include call recording or voicemail-to-email?
Not established on this site. Those features appear in older marketing copy but are not reconciled in the current published record, so no inclusion is claimed here. Three add-ons are published with prices: Call Tracking Numbers ($5 per month), IVR Keypress Menu ($35 per month) and Postcode Prompter ($250 per month).
What these answers do not cover
Activation timing, porting, free numbers and unreconciled features are the deliberate gaps above. Also outside this page: guarantees of more calls, better recall or higher sales — no number product can promise those, and none of the published material does.
For costs in detail, see New Business Phone Number Cost. The New Phone Number For Business pillar owns the wider topic, and the main FAQ page answers product questions beyond new numbers.
