New Business Phone Number Cost

What a new business phone number costs — 1300 and 1800 plans from $10 per month ex GST, Phonewords from $40 per month plus a one-off $50 setup.

Business owner on a call at her desk

A new business phone number here starts at $10 per month for a standard 1300 or 1800 plan, or from $40 per month if the number spells a word (a Phoneword), plus a one-off $50 setup. All pricing is ex GST. Those are the published floor prices; the sections below break down what changes them.

Published plan prices

1300 and 1800 published plans are $10, $15, $39, $79 and $99 per month (the $39 tier has Cap39, Fixed Cap39 and Mobile Cap39 variants). Every standard plan is month-to-month with no lock-in. Published inclusions, quoted from the pricing page:

  • Prepaid ($10) and Light ($15): include $5 call credit.
  • Cap39 ($39): includes 250 Fixed Line minutes plus 100 Mobile minutes each month.
  • Cap79 ($79): includes 750 Fixed Line minutes plus 300 Mobile minutes.
  • High Volume ($99): includes $99 call credit.

Call rates are per minute, billed per second. With Cap plans the monthly fee is the only charge until the included value is used, then per-minute rates apply — on Cap39, 10c/min to fixed lines and 30c/min to mobiles as published.

1300 or 1800: the caller-side difference

The business's per-minute rates are set by the plan either way; the difference is what the caller pays. A 1300 number is a shared-cost number — callers pay a local call rate. An 1800 number is free for customers to call in the stated Australian 1800-number context, with the business paying the call charges.

The Phoneword component

A Phoneword — a 13, 1300 or 1800 number that spells a word — starts from $40 per month, with availability and desirability of the word affecting the price. The exact number and price are confirmed with you before connection. Premium numbers run on a 12-month rolling contract with the $50 setup, subject to number selection and availability. Availability is never guaranteed for a specific word: check it on Find a Number first.

Add-on services

Three add-ons are published: Call Tracking Numbers at $5 per month, IVR Keypress Menu at $35 per month and Postcode Prompter at $250 per month. They can be added during sign-up or changed later from the online console.

What the first invoice depends on

On a standard plan from $10 per month the published figure is the monthly fee plus call usage past any included credit. On a Phoneword the word component and the $50 setup come first. The new phone number for business page covers the choice of number itself, and the terms and conditions govern billing. Related reading: the cost of a 1300 phone number and 1300 number pricing.
